Editorial & Medical Review Policy
Last reviewed: 4 June 2026
This page explains how Dr. Shinde's Ayurvedic Cancer Care Clinic creates, reviews, and maintains the health information published on this website. We take responsibility for what we publish because the people who read it are often patients and families making difficult decisions. Our aim is that every page is accurate, honest about what Ayurveda can and cannot do, and clear that our care is intended to support patients alongside conventional cancer treatment.
Our editorial principles
We write for patients and caregivers first, and we hold our content to the following standards.
Accuracy. We describe Ayurvedic supportive care truthfully. We do not claim that Ayurvedic treatment cures cancer, and we do not promise specific outcomes. Where we describe potential benefits β such as helping manage the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, supporting quality of life, or supporting overall wellbeing β we frame them as supportive aims, not guarantees.
Integrative, not alternative. Our consistent position is that Ayurvedic care works best alongside conventional oncology, not in place of it. We encourage every patient to remain under the care of a qualified oncologist and to discuss any complementary treatment with their treating doctor.
Transparency. Content is attributed to a named practitioner, carries a review date, and is updated when our understanding changes. Patient stories reflect individual experiences and are not predictions of results for others.
Patient safety. We avoid language that could lead a patient to delay or abandon evidence-based treatment. When a topic involves serious or advanced disease, we direct readers toward professional medical care.
Who writes and reviews our content
Health content on this site is prepared by our clinical team and reviewed by a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before publication. Our practitioners hold the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) qualification and practise Ayurvedic medicine in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
- Dr. Mayank Shinde, B.A.M.S. β Ayurvedic practitioner specialising in supportive cancer care. View profile.
- Dr. Amrita Shinde, B.A.M.S. β Ayurvedic physician with a focus on women's health and supportive care.
- Akhilesh Shinde β Founder and senior Ayurvedic practitioner.
We use the term "Ayurvedic practitioner" or "Ayurvedic specialist" to describe our team. The B.A.M.S. is a degree in Ayurvedic medicine; it is distinct from an MD or DM in medical oncology, and we do not represent our practitioners as conventionally qualified oncologists.
How we review content
Before a health page is published, it is checked against this policy: is it accurate, does it avoid cure or "no side effect" claims, does it position Ayurveda as supportive, and does it point readers toward their oncologist where appropriate? Each reviewed page records a review date and the reviewing practitioner. We re-review content periodically and whenever we become aware that information needs correcting.
Sources and evidence
Where we refer to research on Ayurvedic approaches in cancer care, we aim to point to reputable sources such as peer-reviewed journals and recognised medical institutions. The evidence base for integrative Ayurvedic oncology is still developing, and we try to represent it honestly rather than overstating it. We welcome readers checking our claims against independent sources.
Corrections
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate or misleading, please tell us. We will review the page and correct it where needed. Contact us at mayankshinde@gmail.com or +91-8889188821.
Important medical disclaimer
The information on this website is for general educational purposes and does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Ayurvedic treatment is complementary in nature and is not a substitute for conventional cancer treatment. Results vary from patient to patient. Always consult your oncologist or a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new treatment, and do not stop or delay conventional cancer treatment on the basis of information found here.
Our Editorial Standards
Every piece of medical content published on this website β whether a cancer-type treatment page, a blog article, or a symptom guide β is researched, drafted and reviewed under a consistent editorial process designed to ensure accuracy, medical compliance and genuine usefulness to patients and families navigating a cancer diagnosis.
Medical Review Process
All clinically relevant content is reviewed by a qualified BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) practitioner from our clinical team β typically Dr. Mayank Shinde or Dr. Amrita Shinde β before publication. This review checks for clinical accuracy, appropriate safety caveats, and consistency with our stated positioning that Ayurvedic care is supportive and integrative, never a replacement for standard oncology treatment. Content involving specific herb-drug interaction claims receives particular scrutiny given the safety stakes involved.
Sourcing and References
Where we reference statistics, incidence data or research findings, we draw on recognised sources including the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) National Cancer Registry Programme, the World Health Organization's Global Cancer Observatory, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and peer-reviewed research published in indexed medical journals. Classical Ayurvedic concepts referenced are drawn from recognised classical texts and standard Ayurvedic medical education curricula, interpreted through our clinical team's training and decades of practical experience.
What We Will Never Publish
We maintain firm editorial boundaries: we will not publish content claiming Ayurveda cures cancer, content suggesting patients delay or avoid standard oncology treatment in favour of herbal alternatives, content making specific unsubstantiated efficacy claims about individual herbs without appropriate caveats about evidence quality, or content that could reasonably be mistaken for personalised medical advice rather than general educational information.
Corrections and Updates
Medical knowledge evolves, and we are committed to updating our content when new evidence or guidance emerges. If you believe any content on this website contains an inaccuracy, please contact us through our contact page with specific details, and our medical review team will assess and correct the content as appropriate. We review and refresh our core content periodically to ensure statistics and guidance remain current.
Author and Reviewer Credentials
Content is drafted by our clinical content team in consultation with our practising Ayurvedic physicians, and final medical review rests with Dr. Mayank Shinde (B.A.M.S., Ayurvedic Oncologist) and Dr. Amrita Shinde (B.A.M.S.). Author and reviewer information, where relevant, is displayed on individual content pages. Our founder, Akhilesh Shinde, contributes clinical insight based on his four decades of practical experience but is not formally credentialed as a physician β this distinction is maintained consistently and transparently across our content.
Independence From Commercial Influence
Our editorial content is not influenced by any pharmaceutical, supplement or commercial herbal product company. We do not accept payment for favourable mentions of any product, and the herbs and formulations we discuss are based on our own clinical experience and review of available evidence, not commercial partnerships.
How We Handle Conflicting Evidence
Medical and Ayurvedic evidence sometimes conflicts or remains genuinely uncertain. When this occurs in our content, we aim to present the range of perspectives honestly rather than overstating confidence in any single position. We would rather tell readers "evidence on this specific question remains limited" than manufacture false certainty to make content feel more authoritative than it should.
Patient Privacy in Content Creation
Any patient examples, case discussions or testimonials referenced in our content are either fully anonymised with identifying details removed, or published only with explicit patient consent. We take patient confidentiality seriously across all our public-facing content, consistent with standard medical privacy practices.
Review Frequency and Content Lifecycle
Our core treatment information pages undergo periodic review, particularly when significant new research emerges or when our own clinical practice evolves based on accumulated experience. Statistics and incidence data are updated as newer ICMR or WHO data becomes available. We do not consider any page permanently "finished" β ongoing refinement reflects our commitment to providing the most current, accurate information available.
Distinguishing Educational Content From Personalised Advice
We maintain a clear distinction throughout our content between general educational information (appropriate for website publication) and personalised medical advice (which requires individual consultation). Where website content might be misread as personalised guidance, we include explicit caveats directing readers to consultation rather than self-applying general information to their specific situation.
Handling Requests for Content Changes
Occasionally, patients or other stakeholders request changes to published content β whether correcting a factual error, updating outdated statistics, or raising concerns about how something is framed. We evaluate every such request on its merits, prioritising medical accuracy and patient safety above any other consideration, including requests that might otherwise seem reasonable from a purely commercial or reputational perspective.
Our Stance on Sensationalised Health Content
The health content landscape, including content about cancer and Ayurveda specifically, often rewards sensationalised claims, fear-based messaging, or miracle-cure framing with higher engagement. We deliberately reject this approach, even when it might mean less dramatic, less shareable content. We believe our responsibility to provide honest, measured information to vulnerable patients facing a cancer diagnosis outweighs any content-engagement consideration.
Multilingual Content Considerations
Where we publish content in Hindi alongside English (such as our cancer symptoms page), we maintain the same editorial standards across languages, ensuring translated or bilingual content receives equivalent medical review rather than being treated as secondary to English-language content.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement
We welcome feedback on our content from medical professionals, patients, and any reader who believes our editorial standards could be better applied. This feedback genuinely shapes how we refine our content over time, reflecting our broader clinic philosophy of continuous, humble improvement rather than treating our current practices as beyond question.
Our Process for Citing Statistics and Data
When we reference specific statistics β cancer incidence figures, survival data, or research findings β we maintain a practice of citing the specific source and, where possible, the specific year or study the data comes from, recognising that medical statistics can change meaningfully over time and that vague, unsourced statistical claims undermine content credibility. Where we cannot verify a statistic to our editorial standard, we either omit it or clearly flag it as an estimate or general pattern rather than presenting it as precise data.
Handling Evolving Medical Consensus
Medical and Ayurvedic understanding of specific topics sometimes evolves or shifts over time as new research emerges. When this occurs, we update our published content to reflect current understanding, while maintaining transparency about the update where it represents a meaningful shift from previous guidance, rather than silently editing content in ways that might confuse returning readers familiar with previous versions.
Editorial Independence From Patient Outcomes
Our editorial content creation process remains independent from individual patient outcomes or commercial consultation booking pressures. Content decisions are made based on what we believe provides genuine, accurate value to readers and prospective patients, not based on what might most effectively drive consultation bookings, even though we recognise good, honest content naturally supports patient trust and, indirectly, our clinic's reputation.
Our Stance on Search Engine Optimisation Practices
We acknowledge that, like any healthcare website, we pay attention to how our content performs in search engines, since this affects whether patients searching for relevant information can find our genuinely useful content. However, we maintain a firm boundary: search visibility considerations never override medical accuracy or honest claim-making. We will not adjust content toward more dramatic, search-friendly claims if doing so would compromise the accuracy or appropriate caution of our medical communication.
Handling Comparative Claims About Other Practitioners
We deliberately avoid making disparaging or comparative claims about other Ayurvedic practitioners, complementary medicine providers, or specific competing clinics in our content. We believe patients are better served by us clearly articulating our own approach and standards, allowing them to evaluate different options on their own merits, rather than us attempting to discredit alternatives through comparative marketing content.
Accessibility Standards for Our Website Content
We aim to maintain reasonable web accessibility standards in how our content is structured and presented, recognising that patients accessing our content during a cancer diagnosis may include individuals with varying technical comfort levels, visual or other accessibility needs, and varying device capabilities β and that genuinely serving our patient community requires content that's accessible across this full range of circumstances.
Frequently Overlooked Questions Patients Ask Us
Beyond the most common questions, patients occasionally raise more nuanced concerns that deserve equally thoughtful answers. Some wonder whether their specific genetic or family cancer history should influence their integrative care approach β and while we're not genetic counsellors, we do consider relevant family history context during consultation, particularly for cancers with known hereditary patterns like certain breast and ovarian cancers. Others ask whether their specific dietary background or cultural food practices need adjustment β we work within each patient's existing food culture rather than imposing unfamiliar dietary frameworks, finding ways to apply Ayurvedic nutritional principles using familiar regional ingredients and cooking methods.
How We Approach Uncertainty and Difficult Questions
Cancer treatment inevitably involves uncertainty β about prognosis, about how a patient will respond to specific treatments, about what the future holds. We don't pretend to have answers we don't have, and we're comfortable acknowledging uncertainty honestly with patients rather than offering false confidence to ease difficult conversations. We've found that patients generally appreciate this honesty more than they would appreciate comforting but ultimately hollow reassurance that doesn't reflect genuine medical uncertainty.
Our Broader Commitment to editorial Standards
Editorial Standards represents just one dimension of the comprehensive, integrative supportive care our clinic provides. We encourage you to explore other relevant pages on our website, or simply reach out directly with any questions specific to your situation that this page hasn't fully addressed. Our team remains available via WhatsApp at +91-8889188821 for any follow-up questions, with no obligation beyond an honest, informative conversation about how we might be able to support your specific cancer care journey.
Why We Take the Time to Explain Things Thoroughly
We recognise this page contains more detailed information than many websites provide on similar topics. This is deliberate. A cancer diagnosis brings an overwhelming volume of new information, decisions and uncertainty into a patient's life, and we believe thorough, honest, accessible explanation β rather than brief, superficial content β genuinely serves patients trying to make informed decisions during an exceptionally difficult time. We would rather a patient spend extra minutes reading comprehensive, useful information than leave our website with unanswered questions or an incomplete understanding of what we offer and how we approach cancer care.
Connecting What You've Read to Your Own Situation
Every cancer journey is different, and while this page provides general information relevant to many patients, your specific situation β your cancer type, stage, treatment plan, overall health, and personal circumstances β deserves individualised attention that no website page, however thorough, can fully replace. We encourage you to use this content as a foundation for understanding, then bring your specific questions and circumstances to a free consultation where we can address your situation directly and personally.
Take the Next Step
Whether you're ready to book a consultation today or simply want to keep this information for future reference as you consider your options, we're here whenever you're ready. Call or WhatsApp +91-8889188821, available Monday through Saturday, 11AM to 6PM IST, with online consultation options available for patients unable to visit our Indore clinic in person. As always, your first consultation comes at no cost β a practice we've maintained since 1986 and will continue maintaining as a core commitment to accessible, honest cancer care support.
A Closing Thought on Trust in Cancer Care
Trust between a patient and any healthcare provider β conventional or complementary β forms the foundation of effective care, perhaps nowhere more so than in the emotionally charged context of a cancer diagnosis. We've worked to earn that trust over nearly four decades through consistent actions rather than words alone: transparent communication about what we can and cannot offer, genuine coordination with conventional oncology rather than competing claims, accessible consultation regardless of a patient's financial circumstances, and honest acknowledgment of evidence limitations rather than overstated promises. We hope this consistent approach, reflected throughout this website, gives you confidence in considering whether our integrative supportive care might have a place in your own cancer care journey, or that of someone you love.
